COLLECT VOICES

How to collect everyone’s voice messages into one gift

Family and friends each record from their own phone, and the voices arrive as one gift. Choose between one mixed track and a page of separate messages, then compare free limits, message length, and languages.

The short answer

Share one recording link, let everyone record in their browser by a deadline, and deliver the voices together. First decide what the recipient should get: one mixed audio track, or a page where each message can be replayed. Then pick a service whose free allowance fits how many recordings you expect.

01

Can a service put everyone’s voices together?

Yes. Several web services collect voice messages for one person: the organizer creates a gift, shares one link in a group chat or email, and each person records in their phone’s browser whenever it suits them. Most do not ask contributors to install an app or create an account.

The main difference is what the recipient gets. Some services blend the messages into one audio track you can download. Others deliver a page where each message stays separate and can be played one by one or all in order. A third route is to collect voice notes yourself and join them in an editing app.

02

Five steps from invitation to delivery

  • Decide the format: one track to play at a party, or separate messages the recipient can replay one at a time.
  • Estimate how many recordings you will get. Count recordings, not people: a couple or a household can record together.
  • Send one link with the recipient’s name, a deadline, and a suggested length such as 30 to 60 seconds.
  • A day or two before the deadline, remind the people who have not recorded yet.
  • Listen to every message before you send the gift, then deliver the link or file on the day.

Which option fits your gift?

  • One audio file to play at a party or keep as an MP3: VoiceHug blends the messages into one track.
  • More than 30 people, or messages longer than 3 minutes: VoiceHug has no contributor limit and allows 5 minutes per message.
  • 7 to 30 recordings, delivered free: Voice Bouquet’s free allowance covers up to 30 recordings, and the optional video is free for now.
  • The recipient replays one person at a time: Voice Bouquet keeps each message separate, with a play-all button too.
  • Family members who are more comfortable in Korean or Japanese: Voice Bouquet has full pages in those languages as well as English.
  • Short messages on a wall shown with a QR code, with written notes mixed in: Gifts QR’s voice wall.
  • Faces and movement matter more than voices: a video service such as Tribute.
  • Nothing to sign up for and someone happy to edit: collect voice notes in your group chat and join them yourself.

05

Why some groups choose voice over video

Filming asks more of each contributor than speaking does. An organizer who collected messages for a preschool teacher put it this way:

With video, you worry about the background and what you are wearing. Because it was just our voices, it felt easy to take part.

— Organizer of a gift for a preschool teacher

If faces and movement are part of what the recipient will treasure, a video service may still be the better choice.

06

Before you invite everyone

  • If only siblings or a few close family members will record, most services’ free allowances are enough.
  • If cousins, family friends, or a whole class may join, check where each free allowance ends before you choose.
  • Open the recording link yourself in the chat app your family uses.
  • Recheck the free allowance and price on each official page.
